Please have a concert!

I was in Japan a few years ago for some work. I was so glad that the 1st Word Peace Now protest march (seemed more like a festival parade to me) took place in Tokyo when I was there. There was a concert in Yoyogi park to gather all the people for the march. I was invited by my friend who happened to be one of the organisers. The so-called protest was so much different from ours in KL. It was fun! No water cannon, no FRU with batons waiting to beat people up.

The first thing I asked my friend, “how to negotiate with the police in order to let you gather and march on the street?” Obviously, I asked a very stupid question… the answer that I got was: “We have the right to gather and voice our opposition to government policies. We don’t have to negotiate with the police. We just tell them what we want to do and the police should make sure we have the space we need.” Silly me.

So I joined the concert, my friend gave me a M-size World Peace Now t-shirt (you don’t see me wearing it now because I have upgraded to L, damn!), started to march from Yoyogi park to Tokyo station passing through Ginza. What an interesting way to have a day tour of Tokyo streets! My first encounter of Ginza is actually through a protest march. Too bad that the Ginza Apple Store was not built yet at that time. It was fun though. (here’s the link of another WPN concert at Hibiya Park, 4 years after the 1st one)

So I heard that there will be a big protest in July against the drastic fuel hike! I really hope that there will be a concert! I even have a concert song ready… It is modified from the Van Halen’s “You Really Got Me”. There you go…

Pak Lah, you really got me now
You got me so I don’t know what I’m doin’
Pak Lah, you really got me now
You got me so I can’t sleep at night
Pak Lah, you really got me now
You got me so I don’t know where I’m goin’, yeah
Oh Pak Lah, you really got me now
You got me so I can’t sleep at night
You really got me
You really got me
You really got me
Please, don’t ever let me be
I don’t wanna be by your side
Please, don’t ever let me be
I don’t wanna be by your side
Pak Lah, you really got me now

Don’t know the tunes? Please learn it now!
