It Costs More to be Poor Now…

Sunday 12pm. I jumped out from my bed. But I did not had a bad dream, only a minor sore throat. The first thing I did was to get hold of my mobile phone to check the time. I was much relieved when I found out that it was only 12pm.

I was relieved because I had not missed the 4pm demonstration against toll hike in the city which would be held at the Sunway Pyramid shopping complex. 60% of increase of the expressway that I use regularly… that’s just too f**king much. I went to the demonstration as a citizen and for work as well. Asia247 has a short documentary on the protest in both podcast friendly and hi-res widescreen version because it was shot in HD.

I reached there about 3:30pm. Police officers were already all over the place and they were blocking the entrance to the demo venue. I tried to park near the demo venue but I ended up somewhere on the other side of the NPE. Darn!

The demo started at 4pm sharp. Surprisingly, people were allowed to gather at the main entrance of Sunway Pyramid. They deployed the FRUs… I thought the water cannon will be used against the protesters however they spared us the spray. I would say the police were a bit kelam-kabut and rather well behaved this time.

Well, I needed a spray anyway… not from the FRU cannon but the herbal throat spray (see picture below). My sore throat in the morning went bad with a fever after the protest. I hope I am not addicted to Kamillosan M. but Kamillosan M really works. I got better after 1 day. It is only selling at roi hok sip baht khab. Yes, it is not available in Malaysia. It is a German product licensed to the Thais to make and sell in Thailand. It’s THB160 per bottle and it will last for years for me because I only have sore throat once in a while. Good to keep one at home. Ask your friend who is coming back from Thailand to get one for you.
