KL Night Out
Staying in KL does not make me a KL tourist at all. I think this generally applies to all people for their respective home towns. Therefore, I always appreciate friends who visit KL because I got the chance to bring them around and know more about the city that I grew up in.
Last night was the reunion night out for the Asia Source II gang who happened to be in KL for an Open Source conference.
So I went out with (from left) Francis-the-mad-jedi-master, Nelia-the -iron-businesswoman, Jaya-the-vegetarian, Ravindra-the-anytarian and Fuad-the-crazy-geeky-specky-Pakistany. I think we missed the Vietnamese guy (Sorry I can’t really remember his name, I can only remember the Track 4 gals from Vietnam), Dr Alvin from the Philippines and Olivia from Indonesia. Not sure who else from AS II groupie was there. Perhaps Master Francis could tell us…
We had a big feast at Syed (the nan/tanduri place behind TMC Bangsar), took a walk through Bangsar Village and Jalan Telawi, had ginger tea and masala tea at Nirwana mamak shop, then headed straight to KLCC.
It was the first time I went very close to KLCC at 11+pm to take pictures, as a tourist of course. Very surreal! Very massive! Thanks to the ASII gang, I had a great night!

Yes, indeed! It was a great niteout with our very gracious hosts Sam and Jaya (minus Gayathry who is still recovering from chicken pox). The 2007 OSHCA Conference in KL became a wonderful AS2 reunion from the Philippines (me and Nelia), Pakistan (Fouad) and Sri Lanka (Ravindra). Olivia (Indonesia), Tuan Truong Anh (Vietnam) and Dr. Alvin, however, was not able to join us as they were not in the hotel that time. They missed so much fun! The food – YUMMY!!! – roti canai was heaven for me (brought back memories from my 1998 KL trip) and so were the rest of the sumptuous dinner Sam and Jaya treated us. A stroll around the Bangsar Village was equally fun. Petronas Twin Towers at night was really an awesome sight and Jedi Sam really captured it in full artistic heart. Thanks Sam and Jaya. Gayathry, too (get well soon). We love you all. We will always do.
