It’s Quicktime and H.264!

For those who are in denial that H.264 is the way to go and video podcast is the next big wave… This new development might change your mind.

YouTube will be offered as an item in the Apple TV main menu. With the new software update, AppleTV user will be able to browse, search and watch free YouTube videos on their AppleTV.

But there is one problem… YouTube is using FLV right? So how the hack will AppleTV be able to play those?

Yes… but…

Any video uploaded at YouTube in June will automatically be encoded using the Apple supported H.264 video codec.

YouTube is currently converting its older most popular videos into H.264. And it will continue to convert its entire catalog into H.264 format by fall.

WMV? Smell the dust dude!
