Meet the parents

This is not about the movie, and what you are going to read is nothing like the movie. There was loads of love, but there were no interrogation, lie detector or anything close to that. :-)

My whole family was in Kota Kinabalu over the weekend to meet Tim’s family. My sister is getting married!

I have to thank Tim’s parents, his adorable sister and cousin for being such a good host. We had fun! And some adventures too…

First thing on the menu, after being sardined in an AirAsia plane, was island hopping. We took a speed boat from Point 1, stopped over at Point 2 to pick up some fuel and sped to Point 3 (Manukan Island).

Tim and his dad are also nature photo kaki, so while my siblings went snorkling, we went hiking in the forest to take some photos.

We were supposed to hangout on the island for 3 hours… but after about an hour of fun (taking macro photos of course), the sky turned dark. And it started to rain… the first thing that came across my mind was… “Previously on Lost…”

Tim, his dad and I rushed back to the main building of the marine park, and waited for the rain to stop with my family. But the rain went on and on and on… It was 4pm and we were supposed to leave the island. All tourists has already left and we were the last batch.

So we had not choice but ran straight to the speed boat.

When we were running on the jeti towards the boat, the thing that came across my mind was… “Previous on Prison Break…” And guess what? Our speed boat ran out of gas at Point 4. We were stranded in the middle of the sea…

The rain was hard and the waves were not gentle. The visibility was less than 1 Km. I definitely felt like “Previously on Lost.”

We waited for a while because the “rescue” team could not find us in the low visibility environment. But we were rescued after all, soaked in rain and sea water, tired and drowsy…

Though a bit late, we managed get home sound and safe. We all had a good laugh over the unforgettable experience during dinner. Tips for travelers, if you would like to have good and cheap seafood (at least half the price of places in the city center), all you need to do is to get out of the city center, great places with fresh seafood are not that far away.

We went to other places such as the Yayasan Sabah building, Uni Mas, Sabah Museum, beach and more beaches… Will post some photos later.

Guess who me met on our way back? We met J Lo. Yes! We met Jason Lo. Sorry Queen, we were on the same plane, AirAsia plane… Poor J Lo that the stewardess did not allow him to get on the plane with his guitar in a big ass guitar bag with a lot of side pouches. He ended up the last one going up on the plane because he needed to settle his hand luggage issue.
