Boleh News Writing 101

I was reading The Star today and I would like to quote a paragraph about the recent flood in Perak supplied by Bernama:

IPOH: The situation in flood-hit Bukit Merah, about 120km from here, is returning to normal with only 115 victims left in the flood relief centres Sunday morning compared with 185 on Saturday night.

Can you see what’s the problem with the writing?

I ain’t no English Journalism teacher but… I don’t think “returning to normal with ONLY 115 victims left” is right lor. Why the word “ONLY” is used there one? You see I am veli stupid one. Does that mean normally they have 115 victims when it floods there ar? Can anyone tell me?

  1. like Just A mongolian lady been kill by C4 ONLY.

    What a big deal?

  2. Or we can say “JUST one Mongolian lady being killed by C4″?

  3. should be “ONLY ONE mongolia woman’s body was disposed of (because nobody really knows if she was already dead when they did the bombing) by JUST using C4 explosive.”

    ~ english teacher say one.
