Boleh News Writing 102

Then I went on the Tech news section of The Star and read an article about the “new” sub-note computer from Lenovo called the “Ideapad S10″. The article has more than 1200 words, rather long for me but the title “Big idea, mini package” convinced me to read it. 180 words into the article, I stumbled on this paragraph:

So does the S10 sink or swim in a virtual sea of mini notebooks on the market? If you want the quick answer, skip to the end of this article. If you want the long answer, then read on.

Ok… What kind of journalist will ask you to skip reading his/her article and jump straight to the conclusion? Well, this fler is actually suggesting me to skip in order to find out faster. Why not? I have read 180 words so far, and if I can skip 900 words to jump into the conclusion, why the freakin not? The author actually said I can.

So I scrolled directly down to the bottom of the web page to “skip to the end of this article” and I found this:

Pros: Solid build quality; ExpressCard slot; extensive power management options; 10in screen with wide viewing angle. Cons: Fn and Ctrl keys reversed.
